Ps, we'd love to share a heartfelt story with you...
While embarking upon the revitalization project of this wonderful heritage home one year ago, Gary at one point knew he was in a deep renovation. Others suggested to hire help and well, Gary can be quite set in his ways being very meticulous as he is. A couple of days later into the renovation project Gary stepped outside and came back in with a new found friend, Kevin. Gary had observed many times over the last few days an inner city resident looking for what ever could give him a little more. He stopped him one afternoon and asked if he would like to make a little money helping. At first, Kevin thought Gary was not serious as he had never done anything as to what Gary was going to get him involved with.
Gary taught Kevin everything; painting, restoring, plumbing, electrical and more. Over time, Kevin brought forth laughter and song, but something even more, mutual respect and a bond of friendship.
Today, one year later Kevin is still active at the odd job here and there within the Oliver community and when he needs tools or advice he comes to have a good coffee and chat with Gary.
Gary likes to joke and say, "It took Blood, Sweat, Tears and a little bit of his and Kevin's skin" but today, they are both proud to see the achievement of passion within a beautifully revitalized Alberta Heritage Protected Old-English styled cottage within the Oliver community of Downtown Edmonton.
"It's not what we see from the outside, it's what we see within"
